ABSTRACT

This research aimed (1) to investigate the study habits, the emotional problems and the life satisfaction of sixth graders in elementary schools; (2) to examine whether the study habits and the emotional problems affects the life satisfaction of the subjects. This research exercise analyzed the data of the 3rd Korean Children and Youth Panel Research(2010). The subjects comprised 2,210 sixth graders in elementary schools. The statistical methods used for data analysis were means, standard deviations, t-tests and multiple regression analyses. The results were as follows. First, sixth graders in elementary schools generally believed that they possess good study habits. The level of their emotional problems was about average. The life satisfaction of the sixth graders in elementary schools was high. Second, the study habits and the emotional problems affected their life satisfaction. Depression mostly affected the life satisfaction of the sixth graders in elementary schools. As a result, the educational support systems which improve both boys' achievement motives and girl's behavior control and reduce their depression need to be introduced in order to increase the life satisfaction of sixth graders in elementary schools.
