A Structural Analysis on School-Aged Children’s Subjective Well-Being and its Related Variables

ABSTRACT

The purpose of present study were to investigate structural relationships among the related variables of school-age children’s subjective well-being. The participants in this study were 669 of the 5th and the 6th grade children in the region of Daegu. Statistical methods for the data analysis were the SPSS 23.0, AMOS 23.0. And Maximum likelihood estimation method was used to model fit. Goodness of fit was evaluated using the SRMR, RMSEA and its 90% confidence interval, CFI, and TLI. The major findings were as follows. First, parents-children intimacy-support relationship, teacher’s emotional support, children’s emotion regulation, peer attachment affected directly on school-age children’s subjective well-being. Second, parents-children intimacy-support relationship, teacher’s emotional support, children’s emotion regulation affected directly on school-age children’s peer attachment. Third, parents-children intimacy-support relationship, teacher’s emotional support affected directly on school-age children’s emotion regulation. These results suggest that the relationship between parents and children, emotional support of teachers, peer attachment and emotional control of children are important to enhance the subjective well-being of children.
